Detroit – Michigan Theatre 002 BW

While I was in Detroit, I was granted permission to go into the Michigan Theatre which is now a parking garage next to the offices of the Michigan Building. The Michigan Theatre was originally built in 1926 showing live shows as well as silent films and later, talkies. It later became a concert venue that hosted bands such as Aerosmith, David Bowie and Blue Oyster Cult until it was closed in 1976.

A '57 Ford 300, a '52 Ford Customliner and a '55 Ford Country Sedan Wagon are three of the several classic cars parked at the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, AZ. The Wigwam Motel was the inspiration for the Cozy Cone Motel in Disney's animated movie Cars.

South Beach – The Stiles Hotel 001

The Stiles Hotel is one of the many historic, Art Deco, boutique hotels I came across early in the morning while exploring the Miami Beach Architectural District in the South Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach, FL.

South Beach Deco Elements 001 BW

In this composition, you can see the Art Deco design elements including the window "eyebrows" - the architectural term used to describe the awning-like ledges over the windows of many of the buildings in the Miami Beach Architectural District.

South Beach – Essex House 001

Early in the morning, during the blue hour, I was able to explore the Deco District of the South Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach and I was able to get a nice capture of the historic Essex House while it's neon sign is still lit.

South Beach – Collins Avenue 001 BW

One of the things I love about going to the South Beach neighborhood of Miami Beach, FL, is walking along Collins Ave. and shooting all of the great Art Deco architecture, such as that found on the Marlin Hotel, of the Deco District.
